St James Catholic College Office Manager, Sharlene Duggan was recognised for her outstanding service as an employee within Catholic Education at the Tasmanian Catholic Education Commission Awards.

Mrs Duggan said she was shocked when she received the letter about her award.

“I didn’t need recognition. I love my job, but it’s lovely,” she said.

“I feel quite humbled.”

A previous student as well as a current school parent, Mrs Duggan has worked at the College for the past 16 years and has become one of the key pillars of support and one of the most recognised staff members.

She said Catholic Education’s focus on living out gospel values and her commitment to her faith help her to approach her work with a professional and pastoral outlook.

“[Catholic Education] is a really nice environment to work in,” she said.

“I just think it’s important to treat everyone as you would like to be treated and try and help as many people as you can.

“It’s all worthwhile when you can help someone out.”

Mrs Duggan is an active and generous contributor to her parish community as well as the broader Cygnet community.
